On Friday, President Donald Trump declared the United States would cease all trade negotiations with Canada. This decision stemmed from Canada's implementation of a digital services tax targeting American technology companies.
Trump characterized Canada's move as a direct assault on the United States. He stated that the tax was egregious and prompted the immediate termination of all trade discussions.
The President indicated that the U.S. would notify Canada within a week about the tariffs that would be applied to Canadian businesses. He also noted that Canada's action mirrored the European Union's introduction of a similar digital services tax.
The United States is currently working to conclude trade talks with numerous trading partners, with a self-imposed deadline of July 9th. However, the White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, suggested that President Trump might extend this deadline.

About time someone called out these taxes. This is his job!

This will all blow up in his face, as usual. How many deals can he blow up?

Maybe he could try negotiating instead of just threatening tariffs?

Canada shouldn't be targeting our companies. Good for Trump for taking action.
