In a recent baseball game in Milwaukee, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit a solo home run in the first inning. The shot traveled 431 feet over the center-field wall.
Despite Ohtani's early home run, the Milwaukee Brewers emerged victorious, defeating the Dodgers 3-1. The Dodgers, who lead the NL West, have now suffered five consecutive losses.
Milwaukee's pitcher, Jacob Misiorowski, recovered from allowing the leadoff homer by striking out 12 batters over six innings. This was a career high for the rookie right-hander. The Brewers took the lead in the fourth inning, scoring two runs against Clayton Kershaw. They added an insurance run later in the game with a home run by Sal Frelick.
The Brewers' bullpen, consisting of Jared Koenig, Abner Uribe, and Trevor Megill, shut down the Dodgers' offense in the final three innings. Megill secured his 21st save of the season. Kershaw pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three.
The Brewers tied the game in the fourth inning with a single by Andrew Vaughn. Isaac Collins then drove in the go-ahead run. The Dodgers missed a chance to tie or take the lead in the sixth inning when Ohtani was thrown out at the plate.
Ohtani's home run was his 31st of the season, a record for the Dodgers before the All-Star break. The series finale will feature Tyler Glasnow returning from the injured list to pitch for the Dodgers, while José Quintana will start for Milwaukee.

Ohtani needs to step it up and lead, not just hit homers. It’s time for some real leadership on the team.

Kershaw and Ohtani on the same team is still a dream for Dodgers fans, regardless of current challenges.

When will the Dodgers realize that relying on one player won't get them anywhere? They need a solid team effort.
