Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his belief that Iran could resolve its disagreements with the United States through dialogue. He acknowledged, however, that rebuilding trust would be a significant challenge, particularly in light of attacks on Iran by both the U.S. and Israel.
In an interview conducted on Saturday, Pezeshkian stated his conviction that differences and conflicts with the United States could be resolved through talks. He also cautioned U.S. President Donald Trump against being influenced by Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who was visiting Washington for discussions at the White House, and being drawn into a war with Iran.
Pezeshkian placed blame on Israel for the breakdown of previous talks, citing the commencement of Israeli strikes on Iran on June 13th. These strikes initiated a 12-day air war, resulting in the deaths of prominent Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists. He questioned how Iran could regain trust in the United States, given the possibility of further attacks during negotiations.
Furthermore, Pezeshkian alleged that Israel had attempted to assassinate him. He confirmed that an attempt was made but that it was unsuccessful. There was no immediate response from Israel to this accusation.

The only way to resolve these issues is through direct talks. This is a welcome statement.

Pezeshkian's statement is meaningless without action. They need to release hostages, stop supporting terrorism, and dismantle their nuclear program.

Finally, a leader in Iran talking about dialogue! This is a step in the right direction.

Trust? After all the proxies, terror attacks, and nuclear ambitions? Absolutely NO trust. What a joke.

Negotiating in good faith with a regime that supports terrorists is impossible. This is naive at best, dangerous at worst.
