Rescue efforts in Texas were hampered on Friday by several obstacles as workers searched for survivors of a devastating flood along the Guadalupe River. These challenges included downed power lines, flooded roads, and unreliable cellphone service.
A significant number of emergency personnel were mobilized to the affected region. Approximately 500 individuals from various local and state agencies were actively involved in the rescue operation on Friday.
The search efforts utilized a substantial amount of equipment. Fourteen helicopters and several boats were deployed to locate survivors and provide support to ground teams. According to officials, there were ample resources available on the ground.
Authorities also addressed the public's desire to help. While acknowledging offers of assistance from residents, officials strongly advised people to remain at home. They also cautioned against the use of drones or private helicopters in the area, citing potential risks to rescue workers.
