Prosecutor Andrew Floyd Bids Farewell Amid Justice Department Strife

In a heartfelt farewell to his colleagues, Andrew Floyd, one of three federal prosecutors recently dismissed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, expressed admiration for their commitment to justice and encouraged them not to shy away from challenges. Floyd has played a significant role in the Capitol Siege Section and remained with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C., which is currently led by interim U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. In an email he sent on Thursday, Floyd conveyed pride in advocating for the rights of law enforcement members harmed during the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

He poignantly emphasized that these individuals faced not only physical assaults but also became targets of unfounded accusations, suffering further victimization as a result. Floyd referenced a famous quote from Theodore Roosevelt’s 1910 speech, “The Man in the Arena,” to remind his colleagues that it is the individuals actively fighting for justice who truly count, rather than the critics waiting on the sidelines.

Floyd reflected on how receiving this message motivated incoming prosecutors to persevere through long and often challenging cases, reinforcing their commitment to uphold the law in a difficult environment. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his departure, Floyd expressed no regrets about his journey and reassured his colleagues of his unwavering support, stating that while he could no longer be in the courtroom with them, he would continue to cheer them on from a distance.

His resignation underscores growing concerns within the Justice Department, as veteran officials grapple with increased political pressure and retaliation stemming from the previous administration. Michael Feinberg, another federal law enforcement official, also shared his experience of being targeted for his connections to a former FBI employee, leading him to resign. In his farewell message, Feinberg lamented the deterioration of the FBI and expressed his deep love for the country and its constitutional values, calling it an honor to have served the American people.

The system is corrupt in a way that allows actions like this. There is a very clear picture, and they are painting another.

Wow, this is a real loss. The DOJ needs people like Floyd.

It’s a shame to see these dedicated public servants pushed out.

They should be in jail, not giving farewell speeches.

Commitment to justice"? More like commitment to a political agenda.
