The Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd announced a new service on Thursday, addressing recent regulations regarding power banks on domestic flights. This announcement was in response to the latest requirements from China's civil aviation regulator. A seven-day temporary storage service is now available for power banks that are not permitted on flights.
Both Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport have increased inspections to identify and confiscate power banks that do not meet the new standards. Passengers who are forced to abandon their power banks will have them collected. These confiscated devices will then be given to qualified companies for proper handling.
The temporary storage service is available at both airports for power banks that are not on any recall lists. To utilize this service, the power bank must have clear information displayed, including the brand, capacity, and model.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China issued an emergency notice outlining the new restrictions. Power banks without valid 3C certification, those with unclear 3C labels, or those included on recall lists are prohibited on domestic flights, effective June 28.

So, they 'collect' the power banks? Sounds like a sweet deal for whoever gets the 'qualified companies' contract.

This is a necessary step. Ensuring power banks meet standards is worth the small inconvenience.

The lack of grace period is awful! New regulation on June 28, forcing people to dispose of items...

I think it is a great idea that they're checking 3C certifications! It's all about taking away the risks.

How is this helping the environment? All this disposing... It's just more waste!
