In Hong Kong, a palpable sense of pride filled the air as hundreds of residents visited the Shandong aircraft carrier and its accompanying vessels on Saturday. These individuals were among the lucky ones who had managed to obtain tickets for the highly anticipated tour.
The Shandong, a vessel boasting a height equivalent to 20 stories, features a flight deck that stretches the length of two soccer fields. Alongside the carrier, visitors were also able to explore the escort ships.
The visiting fleet includes the Yan'an, a Type 055 destroyer, the Zhanjiang, a Type 052D destroyer, and the Yuncheng, a Type 054A frigate. The ships are currently docked in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for a five-day visit that commenced on Thursday.
This event is a key component of the celebrations commemorating the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

I bet the tour is tightly controlled. Doubt they're letting any real critics on board.
