China's Carrier Strike Groups Conclude Training Exercises in the Western Pacific

The People's Liberation Army Navy has announced that both of its carrier strike groups recently concluded a series of training operations in the Western Pacific and have returned to their bases. Led by aircraft carriers CNS Liaoning and CNS Shandong, these strike groups engaged in what the Navy described as "realistic and systemic" combat training while working alongside various branches of the PLA in simulated battles.

During the training exercises, the participating units executed a range of maneuvers, including early-warning operations, reconnaissance missions, missile defense, and assaults against maritime targets. The training was aimed at refining tactics and enhancing the skills of the crew, thereby boosting the overall combat capabilities of the naval flotillas.

Throughout the exercises, the Chinese vessels encountered foreign military ships and aircraft that were conducting reconnaissance and surveillance operations nearby. In response, the strike groups maintained a heightened state of alert, demonstrating their readiness to address any potential threats by mobilizing carrier-based fighters to ensure robust security perimeters and competently managing various scenarios.

This recent operation marks the second occasion that both carrier strike groups have carried out joint exercises, the first being in October during a combat drill in the South China Sea.
