Axe Attack on Train in Southern Germany Leaves Four Injured

On Thursday, a troubling incident unfolded on a long-distance train in southern Germany where a man wielded an axe, injuring four passengers before being arrested. The attack took place on an ICE train traveling to Vienna, particularly when the train was en route between the towns of Straubing and Plattling, with around 500 individuals onboard at the time.

Authorities reported that around 150 emergency personnel, including police officers and firefighters, rushed to the scene following the assault. The railway line was subsequently shut down. Details regarding the attacker, including his identity and motives, remain unclear, though it was disclosed that he was overpowered by fellow passengers and sustained injuries himself.

German railway operator Deutsche Bahn extended its sympathies to the victims while expressing gratitude for the swift response from emergency teams.
