A fugitive on the Honduran "Top 10 Most Wanted" list, Olivin Martinez Coto, has been arrested in New York after managing to evade a lengthy prison sentence back in his home country. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Coto was apprehended on Long Island, where he had reportedly been hiding from the authorities.
Coto was sentenced in Honduras for serious offenses, including aggravated femicide, which refers to the act of killing a woman because of her gender. Alongside this conviction, he faced charges of attempted homicide and home invasion. ICE pointed out that he had been deported from the United States twice before, indicating a long-standing disregard for U.S. immigration laws.
ICE also stated that they are uncertain about how Coto re-entered the U.S. for a third time, only noting that it occurred after his last deportation in February 2019. The agency confirmed their unyielding efforts to pursue and expel international fugitives, reiterating that America will not serve as a safe haven for criminal aliens.
The report highlights the broader context of immigration enforcement in the U.S. under President Trump, particularly regarding the treatment of criminal illegal aliens, which has led to a stark decrease in illegal border crossings. According to White House border czar Tom Homan, the number of apprehensions at the southern border dropped significantly in June 2025, indicating a marked improvement compared to previous years during the Biden administration. Homan emphasized the effectiveness of Trump's policies, declaring them responsible for the most secure border the nation has ever seen.

ICE has a history of mistreating people. Why should we trust them to handle this situation fairly?

Is anyone else concerned about how we define security? This doesn't feel secure; it feels oppressive.

It’s about time someone held offenders accountable, regardless of where they come from.

Let’s keep our borders secure! Criminals shouldn’t be allowed to slip through the cracks.

Glad to see ICE doing their job! America should not be a refuge for fugitives.
