Trump Comments on Deporting Musk Amid Mayoral Victory for Mamdani and Ongoing Violence in Gaza

During a press interview on July 1 in Washington, US President Donald Trump responded to a reporter's question about the deportation of Elon Musk, stating he would "have to take a look" at the situation. This comes on the same day that the New York City Election Board announced the victory of 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani in the Democratic primary, setting him up as the party’s nominee for the upcoming mayoral election in November, where he has the potential to become the first Muslim and South Asian mayor of New York City.

In another disturbing development, a Palestinian man voiced his frustration over the ongoing targeting of aid seekers by Israeli forces in Gaza, lamenting the dangers that come with seeking assistance. Amidst this, Trump also conveyed threats during a visit to a newly built migrant detention center in Florida, suggesting that he would “have to arrest” Mamdani if he chose not to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following Mamdani's expressed intention to resist their directives.

In Gaza, the situation has further deteriorated with tragic reports emerging from a deadly Israeli strike that killed Dr. Marwan Al Sultan, the director of the Indonesian Hospital, along with his wife and five children. His surviving daughter recounted her loss and highlighted the harrowing incidents occurring within the hospital.

The violence extends beyond Gaza as Israel's actions have escalated in the occupied West Bank, with daily raids, arrests, and extrajudicial killings a grim reality for Palestinians living there.
