Heather Peace, known for her role as Eve Unwin in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, has disclosed that she and her wife, Ellie Dickinson, have both recently faced battles with breast cancer. Peace shared earlier this year that she had been privately dealing with the illness, expressing gratitude after completing chemotherapy. She is now preparing for radiotherapy.
Peace revealed that her wife, whom she has been married to for eleven years, received a similar diagnosis last year. Dickinson's cancer was identified as a smaller, aggressive lump, leading to a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy. Peace, in contrast, was diagnosed with a larger tumor and underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy.
Peace admitted she was hesitant to seek medical attention after noticing a change in one of her nipples, delaying a doctor's visit due to her busy filming schedule. It was Dickinson who encouraged her to get checked. Within hours of the appointment, Peace received her diagnosis. She described feeling overwhelmed by the news.
Peace continued working on EastEnders throughout her treatment. She underwent a left breast mastectomy in November 2024, followed by immediate reconstruction surgery. Initially unsure about implants, she now praises her surgeon's care.
Peace credits her wife for supporting her through the process. She emphasized the strength of their marriage, highlighting their ability to support each other through the challenges. She feels proud of their relationship and the deeper bond they have developed.
Breast cancer is a prevalent disease in the UK. The NHS advises seeking medical advice if any changes are noticed.

Good for her, it seems she is very lucky to have the resources to pay for the best treatment.

Another celeb using their illness for attention. Feels staged.

Probably wants to raise awareness...but it feels self-serving.
