Sean “Diddy” Combs received a mixed verdict in his federal trial. While he was found not guilty of the most serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, the jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The jury reached its decision after nearly 13 hours of deliberation in Manhattan.
The acquittals spared Combs from a potential life sentence. However, the convictions carry a maximum penalty of 10 years each, meaning he could face up to 20 years in prison. The case stemmed from allegations made by his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, and another ex, identified as "Jane," who accused Combs of manipulation and abuse over several years.
Diddy's legal team has requested that the judge release him on a $1 million bond while he awaits sentencing. The judge is expected to rule on this request later in the day.
The sentencing hearing will determine the punishment for the prostitution convictions. Judge Arun Subramanian will preside over the hearing. Before the hearing, a probation officer will prepare a pre-sentence report. This report will include details about Combs' background, the specifics of the offenses, and input from the victims.
During the hearing, both the prosecution and the defense will present their arguments. The prosecution will likely advocate for a harsher sentence, while the defense may highlight mitigating factors. Combs will also have the opportunity to address the judge directly. Victims may also provide impact statements. Judge Subramanian will then consider sentencing guidelines, the severity of the offenses, and Combs' personal circumstances before announcing the sentence. The sentence could include prison time, probation, fines, or restitution.
Following the sentencing, Combs may be taken into custody immediately or allowed to surrender later. There may also be opportunities for appeal. The date for Diddy’s sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
The judge will decide whether Combs will be released on bond or remain in custody while awaiting sentencing. His lead attorney stated that Combs would not violate any conditions of release.
Diddy's defense team is scheduled to hold a press conference later in the day.

Only two counts? He should have faced the full consequences for his actions. This is disturbing.

How can a jury say he’s not guilty of sex trafficking but still convict him for transportation to engage in prostitution? It doesn't add up.

This trial shows how broken the justice system is. People like Diddy have too many resources to wiggle out of real charges.

Convicted or not, his reputation is tainted. It's time he faces the music!

Let’s give him a chance to learn and grow from this. He's shown remorse and deserves support.
