A recent poll of 800 New York state voters revealed that a majority do not believe President Donald Trump's domestic and foreign policies will make America great.
In the 2024 election, former Vice President Kamala Harris won the state with a significant margin, though Trump still garnered over three and a half million votes. New York voters expressed, by a considerable margin, that Trump's policies are not steering the country in the right direction.
The poll also indicated that New York voters believe Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" would worsen life for most Americans. While a majority supported removing income taxes on tips, they also supported requiring healthy adult Medicaid recipients to work for benefits. Conversely, they strongly opposed cutting corporate taxes and reducing SNAP benefits for the poor.
According to the pollster, it's not surprising that New Yorkers, in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans, hold this view. The poll also highlighted that Republicans largely believe Trump will make America great, while Democrats overwhelmingly disagree. Independents also lean towards the view that Trump's actions will not achieve this goal.
The poll further revealed that a majority of Black and Latino voters, along with a plurality of white voters, do not believe Trump will make America great. Support for Trump's policies was also low across different regions within the state.
Trump's favorability and job approval ratings are negative. Voters also disapprove of his handling of immigration and, particularly, inflation.
The pollster noted that Democrats overwhelmingly believe the "Big, Beautiful Bill" will negatively impact average Americans, a sentiment shared by independents. However, Republicans hold a different view, believing the legislation will improve lives.
Voters, regardless of their background, generally believe the "Big, Beautiful Bill" will worsen life for average Americans. There is agreement across party lines on eliminating taxes on tips and opposing cuts to SNAP benefits. However, opinions diverge on corporate tax cuts and requiring Medicaid recipients to work.
The poll also showed that voters are divided on whether New York should support the federal government's efforts to detain migrants living illegally in the state. Additionally, voters disapprove of Trump's efforts to address hostilities between Israel and Iran, including his decision to bomb Iran.
Finally, a majority of voters believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. This sentiment is largely driven by Democrats and independents, while Republicans hold a contrasting view.

I doubt the accuracy of this poll. Many people I know love what Trump is doing!

I completely agree! The majority of people I talk to feel the same way about Trump's impact.
