Joseph Suaalii is anticipated to comfortably fit back into the Wallabies midfield for the British & Irish Lions series, as teammate Len Ikitau noted. Ikitau and Suaalii, who transitioned from rugby league, are likely to be the preferred centre combination for the three-match series starting on July 19 in Brisbane. Their collaboration began during Suaalii's test debut against England in November.
According to Ikitau, Suaalii is a natural athlete who adapts well to different positions. He emphasized that Suaalii is intelligent both defensively and offensively, suggesting that he will quickly reacquaint himself with the midfield role during training sessions. Rugby Australia and the Waratahs made a significant investment of A$5 million ($3.28 million) to bring the young player from the National Rugby League, and he has shown promise in his four-test career.
Suaalii faced challenges during his debut Super Rugby season, dealing with a complex toe injury and a broken jaw that cut his season short while he played for the struggling Waratahs. He is expected to make his return against Fiji on Sunday in Newcastle, which serves as the last warmup game for the Wallabies before they face the Lions. Fans are eager to see how he performs under the pressure of such a prestigious series.
Ikitau highlighted Suaalii's critical nature regarding his own performance, noting that he holds himself to high standards and can be tough on himself after making mistakes. However, he also pointed out the exceptional plays that Suaalii is capable of delivering, as displayed during last year's spring tour, underscoring the high expectations surrounding him.

His past injuries and lack of experience at the international level make this a potentially disastrous decision.
