A teenager, aged 17, will face charges on July 3 for allegedly trespassing on the MRT tracks situated between Tanah Merah and Simei stations in Singapore. The authorities were notified on June 10 about an individual entering the tracks along Upper Changi Road East, leading to his arrest on Tuesday.
Following investigations, the police pinpointed the boy's possible entry point, which prompted the Land Transport Authority to quickly improve security measures in that area to mitigate the risk of similar occurrences in the future. The boy is charged with endangering public safety on the railway and criminal trespass. If convicted, he may receive a prison sentence, a fine, or both.
The police emphasized their stringent approach towards acts that threaten public safety, indicating they will take decisive action against those who disregard legal boundaries.

Teens often don’t realize the risks. I hope he'll take this as a learning opportunity.

Yes, he trespassed, but let’s not forget that he’s just a kid. Maybe a warning would be enough.
