Firefighters in Spain discovered two bodies following a significant fire in the northeastern part of the country. This incident occurred amidst a severe heatwave gripping the region.
The heatwave, impacting Europe this week, has shattered temperature records. It has also led to school closures and heightened the risk of wildfires. In the Catalonia region of Spain, approximately 14,000 residents were instructed to stay indoors on Tuesday due to two simultaneous wildfires in the province of Lerida.
Near the city of Cosco, firefighters found two individuals deceased. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials believe the recent heat, dry conditions, and strong winds from storms contributed to the intensity of the flames.
Catalonia's regional president expressed his distress upon learning of the deaths. Earlier, authorities reported the death of a two-year-old boy who had been left in a parked car in the sun for several hours.
Spain is currently experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures surpassing 40°C in numerous areas. Several heat records were broken during the month of June. Tragically, one person died in Cordoba and another in Barcelona, both while working on road projects, likely due to heatstroke.
Scientists attribute the increasing intensity of extreme weather events, such as heatwaves and storms, to human-caused climate change. Past heatwaves have resulted in tens of thousands of deaths across Europe, prompting authorities to issue warnings to vulnerable populations, including the elderly, young children, and those with health conditions.

What do we expect when people cook in their cars? This tragedy has more to do with common sense than anything else.

This heat isn't that unusual; let's not scare everyone with climate catastrophism.

Blaming climate change for every problem is getting old. People need to take responsibility for their own safety.
