On Monday, the US visas for Bob Vylan, a British music duo known for their provocative performances, were revoked due to their alarming on-stage comments at the Glastonbury Festival. The incident occurred when Bobby Vylan, whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster, incited the crowd by declaring "death to the IDF," prompting an investigation by Avon and Somerset Police into both their performance and that of the Irish rap group Kneecap.
Shortly following the controversial performance, Christopher Landau, the Deputy Secretary of State, announced on social media that the members of Bob Vylan would not be allowed entry into the US, citing their hateful rhetoric. He emphasized that the country does not welcome individuals who glorify violence and incite hatred. In response to the incident, US Ambassador to the UK, Warren Stephens, condemned the antisemitic chants, labeling them disgraceful and unacceptable.
Bob Vylan was scheduled to embark on a US tour featuring 26 concerts between late October and mid-December. However, with their visas revoked, the likelihood of the tour proceeding now appears slim. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that they are investigating the performances and evaluating evidence, with a focus on potential hate crime legislation in light of the significant public outcry against the remarks made during the festival. They have also requested that the public refrain from reporting the incident further, as investigations are already underway.

This is a slippery slope. What’s next? Censorship of all controversial opinions?

This reaction is a massive overreach. Artists should be able to express themselves freely.

This was one of the most disgraceful performances I've seen. They need to be held accountable.

This type of rhetoric should be condemned, not celebrated. Glad they're not coming to the US!

They were expressing a powerful message, not inciting real violence. We need more artists like them!
