Musk Calls for New Party, Intensifies Feud with Trump Over Spending Bill

Elon Musk has reignited his conflict with Donald Trump, advocating for the formation of a "new political party" to govern the United States. This move sharply escalates the tension between the two, with the tech entrepreneur criticizing the Republican Party, labeling them the "porky pig party." Musk shared his views on X, reaching his vast audience of over 221 million followers, and stating that America is effectively operating under a "one-party country" system.

Musk's criticism was particularly directed at the President's proposed tax and spending cuts bill. He issued his tweet as the Senate began voting on the extensive spending plan. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX argued that the plan, referred to as the "big beautiful bill," would lead to a significant increase in the national debt ceiling, specifically by five trillion dollars.

In a series of posts on X, Musk expressed his disapproval of the bill, stating that it demonstrated the existence of a "one-party country." He called for the creation of a new political party that would prioritize the needs of the people. He further questioned the integrity of the "Freedom Caucus" for supporting a bill that, in his view, would lead to "debt slavery." This ongoing dispute is centered on the bill, which is expected to increase the nation's borrowing, despite prior campaign promises.

Previously, Musk had invested a substantial amount, approximately US$288 million, to support the election of President Trump and other Republican candidates. His recent criticism of the President's spending bill included warnings that it would negatively impact American jobs and cause strategic harm. Musk predicted that approving the package would be detrimental to the Republican Party. These latest remarks followed Trump's expression of surprise and disappointment regarding Musk's criticisms, indicating a potential breakdown in their relationship.
