The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has unveiled modifications to airport security procedures, set to begin at select airports on Tuesday. These changes include a dedicated security lane for active-duty service members and discounts on TSA Precheck for the uniformed services community.
The new security lane will be introduced at airports near military installations. These locations include San Antonio, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colorado; El Paso, Texas; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; San Diego, California; and Seattle. The Department of Defense estimates there are approximately 1.13 million active-duty service members.
Gold Star Families, who have suffered the loss of a family member in the line of duty, will have their TSA PreCheck enrollment fee waived. This waiver applies to PreCheck programs through CLEAR, IDEMIA, and Telos. Furthermore, active-duty Department of Defense (DOD) service members will receive a $25 discount on the TSA Precheck fee. Active-duty service members and civilian DoD staff are already eligible for complimentary TSA PreCheck.
The TSA's initiative, named "Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease," will be officially announced in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday. The TSA aims to ease travel for the military community through the TSA PreCheck program. The TSA seeks to honor those who serve and their families by expanding access, easing enrollment, and collaborating with TSA PreCheck enrollment providers and industry partners.

These changes are long overdue. Military families face enough challenges without added travel difficulties.

Finally, recognition for our service members! They deserve these benefits for all they do for us.
