Missouri prosecutors are pursuing upgraded charges against two individuals connected to the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans. The Platte County Prosecuting Attorney's Office confirmed they are seeking to elevate the charges from involuntary manslaughter to second-degree murder for Jordan Willis and Ivory J. Carson.
The three victims, Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson, and David Harrington, were discovered deceased in a friend's backyard in Kansas City, Missouri, after an NFL watch party on January 9, 2024.
Previously, Carson and Willis were charged in March with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts related to the delivery of a controlled substance. Carson is alleged to have provided cocaine to Willis and the victims, and his DNA was reportedly found on a bag containing fentanyl.
Willis' attorney, John Picerno, expressed disappointment with the upgraded charges, stating his client maintains his innocence. He believes the felony murder statute is being misused and is eager to challenge the charges in court. Picerno previously stated he was surprised by the initial charges against Willis.
Willis' attorney reiterated his client's position that he is not responsible for the deaths, emphasizing that Willis did not purchase or supply the drugs that led to the deaths of his friends. He anticipates presenting all the evidence to a jury.

Second-degree murder makes sense given the alleged actions. Those guys caused a lot damage!

I hope the jury takes the time and care to make a good decision when trial comes up.

This seems like a rush to judgment. We have to know all the facts before condemning anyone.

The defense attorney's statement is reasonable given the context. We should be cautious of the facts.
