Late Sunday evening, shortly after a Pride parade, two teenagers were shot near the Stonewall Inn in New York City. Police responded to reports of gunfire in Sheridan Square, near the iconic LGBTQ bar, around 10:15 p.m. as the day's celebrations were concluding.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 16-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the head. She was immediately taken to Bellevue Hospital and was in critical condition. A 17-year-old female was also found, having sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg. She was transported to Northwell Greenwich Village Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have stated that no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Stonewall Inn, situated in the heart of Greenwich Village, is historically significant for the 1969 police raid that is widely recognized as a pivotal moment in the modern LGBTQ rights movement.
The incident occurred following a day of Pride celebrations in the West Village, where thousands had marched. Earlier in the day, another Pride event at Washington Square Park was disrupted by a false report of gunfire, which led to chaos and a stampede.

Too many celebrations fuel late-night incidents. People don't know when to stop.

It's a shame, but the LGBTQ community is always trying to make themselves the victims. Not everything is hate.

This reinforces the need for more surveillance cameras. They’ll catch someone eventually.

Was probably caused by people trying to stir things up.

The timing is no coincidence. This is about sending a message of fear. We won't be silenced.
