A physical altercation erupted between two minibus drivers at a bustling airport in Spain. The incident reportedly unfolded at the arrivals area of Palma Airport, located on the island of Majorca, on a Saturday morning. Video footage captured the scene, showing bewildered holidaymakers witnessing the fight. One individual, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, is seen attempting to separate the combatants. The dispute reportedly originated from an argument over a group of passengers requiring transportation.
According to reports, a taxi driver who observed the incident labeled the fighting drivers as "pirates," alleging they were illegally soliciting customers within the airport. Security personnel intervened, and National Police officers recorded the details of both men involved. Fortunately, neither driver sustained serious injuries during the altercation.
The English-language newspaper highlighted the long-standing tensions between minibus operators and licensed drivers, noting that while such conflicts occur, a fight between two minibus drivers is uncommon. Palma, the capital of the Balearic Islands, which includes Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera, is a popular tourist destination. Majorca, the largest island, attracts a significant number of visitors annually. Recent protests have taken place on Majorca, fueled by concerns over overtourism. Earlier in the month, a large demonstration occurred in Palma as part of a coordinated effort by activists concerned about the effects of overtourism in southern Europe.

The security and police were right to get involved, this kind of behavior should not go unpunished.

They should not have fought, but I can see the frustration building after a long day of driving - especially at an airport.

Unfortunate situation. These guys are probably struggling to make ends meet. The market is saturated with drivers.

They are clearly disregarding airport regulations. How can we expect anything different?
