Princess Kate has long been known for her enthusiasm for sports, a passion she appears to have instilled in her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. However, as a mother of three, the Princess of Wales, now 43, may find her time for personal sporting pursuits more limited than in the past.
Beyond her fondness for running, the Princess is also reported to be a keen tennis player. As the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, she is believed to still play the sport, though she has acknowledged that her opportunities to do so have decreased. During a visit to Bond Primary School in South West London in January 2018, Kate shared with students participating in Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative activities that she is not as active as she once was, citing the demands of motherhood.
At the time of the school visit, Kate was already a mother to Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and was expecting Prince Louis, who is now seven. She told the primary school students, "I love tennis, I think it's a great sport, I was really sporty when I was little, less so now that I've got lots of babies! But keep it up, it's great to be active, as everyone's been saying here today. It's been a real pleasure to meet all of you." Tennis champion Laura Robson has also spoken about Kate's genuine affection for the sport, recalling a time when she watched a match at Wimbledon with the future Queen.
Kate's love for tennis is believed to have developed over many years, dating back to her school days.
