Investigators Explore Sabotage as Possible Cause of Devastating Crash

The investigation into the devastating Air India crash, which claimed the lives of 260 people, is now exploring the possibility of sabotage. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a medical college shortly after takeoff on June 12, resulting in the death of nearly everyone on board, including 52 British citizens. Tragically, 19 people on the ground in Ahmedabad also lost their lives.

Indian authorities have confirmed that air investigators are considering sabotage as a potential cause of the disaster. According to India’s Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a comprehensive investigation, examining all possible factors, including the possibility of sabotage. While speculation of sabotage had circulated previously, this marks the first official acknowledgement of it as a potential cause.

The loss of power in both engines, a highly unusual event, is a key focus of the investigation. Experts have described this occurrence as exceptionally rare. The aircraft reached a height of only 625 feet before crashing just 33 seconds after takeoff. The pilot, Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, 55, issued a frantic Mayday call to air traffic control, reporting a loss of thrust. The AAIB is currently investigating whether the engine failure was caused by deliberate fuel contamination.

The investigation involves a thorough review of CCTV footage and the involvement of multiple agencies. The Minister stated that the final report, expected in three months, will determine the cause of the engine failure, whether it was an engine problem, a fuel supply issue, or another factor. The plane's black boxes, containing the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and digital flight data recorder (DFDR), have been recovered and are undergoing analysis in India. These devices hold crucial data, including pilot conversations, altitude, speed, and background noise, which will be vital in determining the cause of the crash.

I hope we get a thorough investigation, even if it means acknowledging a difficult truth. The lives of these people matters.

Engine failure is rare, especially in both engines. Sabotage deserves serious consideration in such a catastrophic event.

It's good that the AAIB is exploring all possibilities, including sabotage. That's the responsible thing to do.

Given that the engines failed, It will not be easy to rule out possible criminal intent. Especially when there's such a large loss of life.

It's important to assess all angles, and it does seem suspicious that both engines failed at the same moment.

The black boxes are paramount. Hopefully, they will lead us to determine what happened. If so, the investigators should be really quick about it.

Poor maintenance, engine problems, fuel contamination, these issues must all get assessed. The fact that they're looking into sabotage shows they are not playing around.
