A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
Police received a report around 2:15 pm on Saturday regarding an unconscious woman with a serious injury inside a house in the Elmfield Walk area of Donaghadee. The woman was found to be pregnant.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has launched a murder investigation after a pregnant woman was found dead in Co Down, Northern Ireland. The deceased has been identified as Sarah Montgomery, 27, a mother of two.
Detective Chief Inspector Tom Phillips stated that officers, along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene and provided medical treatment. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Phillips added that inquiries are in their early stages and that the case is deeply tragic. He expressed the police's thoughts and support for Sarah's family during this difficult time, noting that they are being supported by specially trained officers.
North Area Chief Inspector Yvonne McManus acknowledged the shock and concern this news will cause within the community. She mentioned that officers will be present in the area, with cordons still in place. She encouraged anyone with concerns or needing assistance to speak with the officers.
Chief Inspector McManus emphasized the profound impact of violence against women and girls and stated the police's commitment to addressing this issue. She appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact them.
