Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, addressed the US House of Representatives' recent passage of the so-called Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act. She stated that the Taiwan question is entirely an internal matter for China and is not subject to foreign intervention.
Zhu criticized certain members of the US Congress for revisiting the Taiwan-related bill, asserting that it significantly violates the one-China principle and the agreements outlined in the three China-US joint communiqués. She expressed strong opposition to these actions.
The US House of Representatives passed the Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act, which calls for US government support for Taiwan's involvement in the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This includes backing Taiwan's participation in economic surveillance, access to technical assistance, and eligibility for personnel to hold positions within the IMF.
Zhu urged the US to halt the advancement of negative Taiwan-related legislation and to refrain from sending any misleading signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. She emphasized that the IMF is a specialized agency of the United Nations, and only sovereign states are eligible for membership. As a part of China, Taiwan is not entitled to participate.

China's stance is clear. The Taiwan question is an internal affair. The US needs to respect that.

The Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act is a blatant violation of China's sovereignty.

The US should focus on its own problems and leave China and Taiwan alone.

The IMF should assess countries based on economic merit, not political pressure. Taiwan qualifies!

The US is feeding the 'Taiwan independence' narrative with these actions.
