Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, addressed media inquiries regarding the verdict of Li Yanhe, editor-in-chief of Taiwan’s Gusa Press. He stated that the Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court delivered the first-instance verdict on February 17th, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the legal process.
Following the announcement of the verdict, the defendant reportedly accepted the ruling and admitted guilt in court. No appeal was filed within the legally mandated timeframe, and the verdict has subsequently taken legal effect. Chen indicated that the defendant and their family are fully informed of the sentencing details.
Chen, in his capacity as spokesperson, expressed reluctance to publicly discuss specific case details. He did, however, comment on the actions of the DPP authorities. He stated that their repeated attempts to publicize the judicial case were aimed at discrediting the mainland’s judicial system, revealing their underlying intentions.
The Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court convicted Li of inciting secession and sentenced him to three years in prison, along with one year of deprivation of political rights and a fine of 50,000 yuan. Chen assured that during the sentence's enforcement, the relevant authorities would fully protect the lawful rights and interests of the defendant and their family.

They always say they're protecting rights, but actions speak louder than words.

Ensuring transparency and fairness"? Laughable. Where's the evidence?

The DPP is just trying to stir up trouble. Interference is not welcome.

Admitted guilt"? Forced confession, more likely. This isn't justice.
