Juventus defender Nicolo Savona will miss the remainder of the Club World Cup due to an ankle injury sustained during the match against Manchester City. The Italian club announced the news on Friday, indicating a recovery period of over a month for the player.
The 22-year-old defender had been a consistent presence in Juventus' starting lineup, participating in all three group stage matches. However, he was forced to leave the field during the game against Manchester City after suffering an ankle injury. He was substituted by Federico Gatti.
Following the injury, Savona underwent medical tests on his left ankle. The results revealed a high-grade capsular ligament injury. Savona has commenced his rehabilitation program and will be assessed again in a month.
Juventus' defeat to Manchester City resulted in a second-place finish in Group G. They are now scheduled to face Real Madrid in the last 16, with the match taking place on Tuesday in Miami. Gatti, who also replaced Savona in the opening win against Al Ain, is expected to fill his position in the team's defensive setup.
