According to a recent book, Meghan Markle reportedly left an event prematurely during a tour with Prince Harry, attributing her early exit to feelings of being snubbed by UN Women. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took part in a prominent tour across Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand when Meghan was 12 weeks pregnant with their son, Archie. Despite attending various events throughout their 16-day trip, a particular incident in Fiji caught attention.
On the ninth day of their visit, the couple toured Suva, including a stop at the University of South Pacific. Later, Meghan was expected to spend 20 minutes at the Suva market, where she was scheduled to engage with the work of Markets for Change, a UN Women initiative. However, she departed after just eight minutes, with Kensington Palace initially citing "uncomfortable conditions" and "crowd management issues" as reasons for her quick exit.
Royal biographer Robert Lacey, in a revised edition of his book, posits that Meghan's departure was also motivated by her past experiences with UN Women. He noted that although she had made an impactful speech on gender equality in 2015, she had only been assigned the lesser role of an advocate rather than a goodwill ambassador, which included prominent figures like Nicole Kidman and Emma Watson. Lacey expressed that this prior slight may have led to her discontent during the Fiji market visit, supported by an assertion from a screenwriter that Meghan struggles with perceived rejections. Observers at the event noted that Meghan appeared disengaged and concerned, contrasting with her usual demeanor, further hinting at the emotional toll of the situation.

Sounds like someone isn't cut out for the reality of public service. There are always compromises and expectations.

She's a human being! It's understandable to feel slighted. Anyone would feel the frustration.

Even royals deserve to be appreciated. Maybe the UN fumbled, it's not Meghan's fault.

It sounds like a genuine effort to leave. She probably wasn't given a warm welcome.

The criticism is excessive! She's pregnant on a demanding tour. Give the woman a break.
