Passengers traveling through Euston Station are experiencing major delays and cancellations following the derailment of a non-passenger train near Milton Keynes. The incident prompted the closing of several rail lines, causing widespread disruption to services, with some trains being delayed by as much as 90 minutes. Passengers traveling to key destinations, including Manchester and Birmingham, are particularly affected, as there have been cancellations for hours.
As the disruption continues, London Northwestern Railway announced that passengers should expect adjustments to their services on the following day. This evening, the situation at Euston has become increasingly chaotic, with crowded conditions as both commuters and those affected by the earlier disruptions converge on the station. Only a limited number of trains, such as the London Overground services to Watford Junction, are running on schedule.
Despite the reopening of some tracks, the aftermath of the derailment is still causing significant delays throughout the network. Train operators, including Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Railway, are advising travelers to check the National Rail website for updates and plan their journeys accordingly. If passengers find their trains canceled, they should verify the operators’ guidelines which may allow ticket usability on alternate services. They may also qualify for compensation due to the delays encountered.
Gary Walsh, the Director of Network Rail's West Coast South route, reassured passengers that safety is their priority and that they are actively working on resuming full services. Although two out of four tracks have been reopened for operations, the situation remains fluid, and extensive delays are still anticipated. No injuries have been reported from the derailment, which occurred at low speed and involved no passengers at the time.

I can’t believe they expect us to just sit back and accept these delays every time something happens.

They keep saying safety is a priority, but what about passengers waiting in a chaotic station?
