Ukraine is escalating its drone attacks with the goal of eliminating up to 35,000 Russian troops each month. This figure aligns with the estimated number of new recruits the Kremlin drafts into its army monthly. A significant military restructuring was announced earlier in June, with the appointment of Major Robert “Madyar” Brovdi as the new commander of Ukraine's drone forces.
Major Brovdi, a rising figure in the Ukrainian military, began his service in the Territorial Defence Forces in 2022, leading an assault platoon. He later founded "Madyar's Birds," an aerial reconnaissance unit. This unit pioneered the integration of reconnaissance and strike drone operations within the Ukrainian military. Brovdi's strategy involves transforming Ukraine's drone forces into a more effective fighting force.
Drones are already responsible for an estimated 80% of Russian casualties on the battlefield. The new commander aims to increase this impact, emphasizing the importance of inflicting maximum casualties to hinder the Kremlin's ability to reinforce its frontline troops. Brovdi stated that the goal is to neutralize 35,000 Russian soldiers per month, addressing the surplus of recruits.
The commander plans to establish dedicated drone units for each section of the frontline, with operators specializing in their respective areas. This approach aims to create a continuous "kill zone" relying on FPV drones rather than traditional defenses. Brovdi's initial focus will be on eliminating Russian reconnaissance and strike capabilities, specifically targeting enemy drone pilots.
According to Estonian military analyst Artur Rehi, if Brovdi achieves his objectives, Russia could lose its advantage in manpower. This could significantly impact Russia's ability to sustain offensive operations, especially considering its reduced capacity for large-scale mechanized assaults.

If we can neutralize Russian forces effectively, it is a win for Ukraine and a step towards peace.

Finally, a proactive strategy! If drones are effective, we should use them as much as possible to protect our sovereignty.

Targeting soldiers in this way could increase animosity and lead to retaliation. War isn't just about numbers.

It's smart to have specialized drone units for each frontline section. Precision matters in warfare.

Drones may cause casualties, but they also change the battlefield in ways that may not be fully understood.
