A heatwave is on the horizon for the UK, specifically targeting England where temperatures are predicted to surpass 30C by the weekend. Weather forecasts suggest that approximately 30 cities in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will be spared the intensity of the heat, with WX Charts indicating milder weather patterns in these regions. For instance, cities like Bath, Bristol, and Plymouth in South West England, along with Newcastle and Durham in the North, are anticipated to avoid the worst of the heat, remaining considerably cooler.
In Wales, temperatures are expected to hover between 23C and 28C across seven cities, while Northern Ireland will see even cooler conditions, with highs around 19C to 20C on Monday. Scotland's weather appears to be similarly mild, with temperatures ranging from 17C to 21C in cities such as Aberdeen and Glasgow. Compounding the situation, the UKHSA has issued a second amber heat health alert starting midday on Friday and extending through to Tuesday evening, signifying significant health risks especially for vulnerable populations.
Despite the warnings for hotter conditions in central, southern, and eastern regions, Friday's weather will begin with unsettled patterns, including the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across Scotland. Forecasts also indicate that while eastern England may experience dry spells, warmer temperatures may return, potentially reaching 28C. Meanwhile, the high-pressure system is expected to promote the reintroduction of warmer air in the following days, albeit with lingering chances of rain as the weekend progresses.

If it’s not one weather crisis, it’s another. We need to seriously talk about climate resilience!
