A significant heatwave is predicted to impact 17 UK cities, with temperatures potentially reaching a scorching 34C. Weather charts indicate the arrival of sweltering conditions, estimated to begin on Sunday, July 6th. If these forecasts are accurate, the heat will surpass the temperatures experienced the previous weekend.
The brunt of the heat is expected to be felt in Kent, with London, Surrey, Bournemouth, and Brighton also experiencing high temperatures. By 6 pm on July 6th, London, the east of England, and the southeast are anticipated to reach 32C. The east and west Midlands will see temperatures around 31C, while Bristol and Gloucester will experience highs of 29C-30C.
The heat will intensify further, with parts of the UK potentially reaching 34C by 6 pm on Monday, July 7th. London, the southwest, the southeast, and the east of England will be under a 33C-34C heatwave, with the east Midlands close behind at 30C. By midnight on July 8th, parts of the east of England and the southeast will already be at a sizzling 33C.
By midday, temperatures will have reached 30C across the entire southeast, along with parts of southwest England. The east of England and the east Midlands will follow closely, with temperatures likely to reach 29C. By 6 pm, the southeast will be enveloped in a scorching 33C-34C heat, affecting major cities like Portsmouth and Southampton. Major cities in the southwest, including Bristol, Bath, and Gloucester, will see temperatures rise to 31C-32C. Newport in south Wales and Worcester are predicted to reach 30C.
While the mercury is expected to drop slightly by midnight on July 9th, it will still be an uncomfortable night, with Gloucester likely at 30C and London at 27C. The Met Office's outlook suggests changeable conditions throughout much of July. Southern and eastern areas are more likely to experience longer, drier, and more settled periods, though occasional rain or showers are possible. Temperatures are expected to be above average for most areas, particularly in the southeast, where very warm or hot conditions are expected at times.

This is going to be brutal for commuters. Crowded trains and scorching platforms... no thanks.
