In a dramatic incident in Hampshire, an electrician acted swiftly when he witnessed a bus carrying school children crash yesterday. The double-decker bus was involved in an accident near Eastleigh around 10 am, with a total of 20 people, including the driver, on board. Medical teams quickly arrived on the scene, transporting five individuals to the hospital and providing treatment to about 14 children who had less serious injuries. The passengers were primarily students traveling to Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, as confirmed by authorities, who noted that while two individuals sustained serious injuries, they were not deemed life-threatening.
Bruno Aguiar, the local electrician, was driving to work when the bus nearly collided with his van. After noticing the bus veer off the road, he quickly rushed to offer assistance. According to his account, he saw the bus coming towards him at high speed and made a swift maneuver to avoid a collision. The bus then hit a red Corsa and ultimately ended up in a river. Bruno immediately checked on the driver, who requested an ambulance, and realized that the bus was filled with scared children.
Acting with urgency, Bruno retrieved a ladder from his vehicle and, with the help of a passerby in a Bluestar uniform, assisted the children in escaping from the stranded bus. He observed that there were no adults on the bus other than the driver and noted the panic among the children. Despite the chaos, he reflected on the situation and expressed relief that there were no more serious injuries. Meanwhile, police authorities praised the bravery of those who responded before emergency services arrived, highlighting the commendable acts of the public in the face of danger.
Inspector Andy Tester of Hampshire Constabulary expressed sympathy for the frightened children and the bus driver. He acknowledged the courageous actions of individuals who acted despite lacking formal training for such emergencies, and emphasized the importance of the professional responders who arrived subsequently to ensure safety. In a statement from Bluestar, updates about the passengers were shared, confirming injuries sustained by the driver and at least two others. The company is currently undertaking an investigation into the incident and is coordinating with the police in their inquiry.

Hope the investigation is thorough. We need to know the cause, not just praise the electrician.

While the electrician was brave, let's not forget the proper emergency responders. Are they getting enough praise?

I guess if it was a serious accident, the emergency services had to jump in and take over..
