China's J-10CE Fighter Jet Takes Center Stage at Paris Air Show

The J-10CE, a sophisticated fighter jet from China, was a prominent feature at the Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) booth during the 55th Paris Air Show. A large model of the aircraft, showcasing the PL-15Es, China's advanced long-range air-to-air missiles, was on display.

According to Zhu Qian, a senior executive at AVIC, the J-10CE is a fourth-plus-generation fighter jet. It boasts a cutting-edge aerodynamic design, exceptional maneuverability, and agility. The jet is equipped with advanced avionics, weapons control systems, and radar systems, and can utilize a wide array of munitions. It also excels in electronic warfare and inter-system operations.

The J-10CE is capable of engaging multiple targets beyond visual range, even in challenging electromagnetic environments. It can also deliver precision strikes against ground targets using various guided munitions. The aircraft is an all-weather, multi-role combat aircraft with a single seat and engine, based on the J-10C model. It is known for its impressive performance in dogfights at low and medium altitudes, supersonic flight capabilities, short take-off and landing abilities, and a long operational radius.

The J-10A, the initial version of the J-10 family, first flew in March 1998, marking a milestone as China's first modern fighter design. The J-10C was first unveiled to the public in July 2017 and began combat patrol duties in April 2018. Compared to its predecessors, the J-10C features a smaller radar signature, enhanced operational capabilities, a more streamlined design, lighter weight, and a more powerful engine. It also incorporates an upgraded active phased array radar, improving its detection and multi-targeting capabilities.

The J-10CE is the first variant of the jet family specifically designed for export. The Pakistan Air Force has already acquired and deployed this aircraft. Alongside the J-10CE model, China's latest stealth fighter jet, the J-35A, made its first international appearance at the show.
