The Eighth Red House Forum and the Sixth Shanghai Public Hospital High-quality Development Forum convened in Shanghai on Saturday. The event brought together over seventy prominent medical experts from various countries to discuss advancements in several key areas. These included gynecologic oncology, fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, and perinatal health, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence in obstetrics and gynecology.
The forum featured presentations from leading experts, including academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. International participation was strong, with experts representing institutions such as Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from the United States, and the University of Toronto in Canada. These experts shared their latest findings and experiences in their respective fields.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, the host of the forum, announced the launch of an enhanced international exchange initiative. This signifies a new era of international collaboration beginning this year.
The Shanghai hospital, a participant in World Health Organization projects, has established extensive collaborations with medical institutions worldwide. These collaborations include health intervention programs with partners in Canada, South Africa, and India, focusing on preconception, pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood stages. The aim is to provide preventive solutions for global health challenges such as childhood obesity and chronic diseases in adulthood. The hospital also collaborates with a laboratory at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, focusing on research related to HPV to support cervical cancer prevention and control efforts.
According to Jiang Hua, president of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, the hospital will continue to leverage global expertise and strive to meet the highest global standards and technological advancements. The goal is to become a leading center for clinical research in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as a platform for international academic exchanges, contributing to the advancement of women's health globally.

More lip service to 'global standards'. Where is the actual funding going? How are the outcomes evaluated?

AI in medicine? Sounds like it could be more errors. I'd rather doctors made the important decisions.
