Hamed Aly Marie, an international traveler, was taken into custody following an incident at Dulles International Airport where he reportedly assaulted a police K9 named Freddy. The event occurred on Tuesday in the baggage claim area, where Freddy, a beagle trained to detect illegal agricultural items, was screening luggage from EgyptAir flight 981 when he indicated a particular piece of luggage.
As Freddy was attempting to inspect the luggage further, Marie approached the K9 and a Customs and Border Protection agent engaged in conversation with them. During this interaction, Marie allegedly kicked Freddy with such force that it lifted the dog off the ground, resulting in an injury that required immediate veterinary attention.
Marie was arrested on Wednesday and faces serious charges in U.S. District Court in Virginia for willfully and maliciously harming a police animal. As of Wednesday evening, no plea had been entered, and there was no defense attorney listed for his case, although arrangements have been made for an interpreter to assist him.

I hope his side of the story gets heard. There's always two sides to every story.

Everyone deserves the chance to explain what they did. Let his voice be heard first.

Let's wait for all the facts before we judge. Everyone makes mistakes.

It's a difficult situation for an international traveler arriving at an airport.

I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This aggression towards an innocent animal is unacceptable.
