Following a recent period of high temperatures, the UK is anticipating a return of warm weather. A Met Office forecaster indicated the possibility of a brief, localized heatwave in the South East. Temperatures could potentially reach 29C on Saturday, 30C on Sunday, and 31C on Monday.
Before the heat arrives, unsettled weather is expected. Wednesday will be warmer, but with an increased risk of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures should still reach 27C in eastern England on Thursday, although heavy showers are likely in the east and persistent rain will affect the far northwest of Scotland.
29C on Saturday, 30C on Sunday, and possibly 31C on Monday. The Met Office noted that the 31C prediction has lower certainty, but conditions are favorable for another period of heat. A heatwave is officially declared when an area experiences its specific threshold temperature for three consecutive days.
The Met Office anticipates that only the South East is likely to meet the heatwave criteria this time. BBC Weather supports the general forecast, stating that south-westerly winds on Wednesday will draw in hotter weather, lifting temperatures in the Midlands, East Anglia, and the South East. After a slightly cooler Thursday, temperatures in East Anglia and Kent are forecast to reach 28-29C on Friday, with many areas experiencing temperatures in the high twenties and low thirties by Sunday and Monday.

Showers and thunderstorms sound much more appealing than sweltering heat. Let nature do its thing!

With global warming, we shouldn't get used to the idea of heatwaves like it's normal.

Heat advisories are serious; let's not romanticize weather that can be hazardous to our health.
