Russia Increases Hypersonic Missile Production Amid Rising Global Tensions

Reports suggest that Russia is elevating its production of hypersonic missiles, aimed at targeting Europe, as tensions flare both in the Middle East and due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The situation grew more precarious over the weekend when the United States conducted airstrikes in Iran to hinder its nuclear program, triggering a retaliatory attack from Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on a U.S. airbase in Qatar. However, American President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement involving Israel and Iran shortly thereafter. Despite this temporary resolution, global leaders, including Vladimir Putin, are bracing for potential escalations into total war.

During a recent press conference, President Putin detailed plans to enhance the production of Oreshnik hypersonic missiles, which are designed for medium-range deployment and have already been utilized in the conflict with Ukraine. He highlighted the missile's effectiveness in combat, declaring that the production of this weapon system is currently underway. Reports indicate that these missiles were employed during a Russian offensive in Ukraine on November 21, 2024, targeting a defense facility in Dnipro, resulting in substantial damage. The Oreshnik missiles are anticipated to be operational by the latter half of the year, with a striking range of up to 3,415 miles, allowing them to reach targets across Europe and parts of the western United States. Despite Putin's assertion that these weapons are "impossible to intercept" and capable of inflicting damage on nuclear capabilities, some military analysts cast doubt on his claims.

In a parallel development, the UK government is set to acquire a new fleet of F35A fighter jets, which are capable of carrying nuclear arms, marking what is described as a major fortification of Britain's military stance in over a generation. The decision includes procuring 12 jets and participating in NATO's airborne nuclear mission, a move confirmed during Sir Keir Starmer's attendance at a NATO summit in The Hague. The Prime Minister conveyed that such developments signify a need for enhanced national security amid an unpredictable global landscape, stressing that the country can no longer assume peace is guaranteed.

The UK adding nukes to the mix is not helping. A dangerous arms race is beginning.

The UK's military expansion does not solve any problems, just makes them worse.
