This morning, during the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show hosted by Scott Mills, Prince William made a special appearance by leaving a voicemail message. Although he couldn't join them live, he wanted to connect since Robert Irwin, notable for his ambassadorship with the Earthshot Prize, was a guest on the show. In his message, Prince William greeted Mills with a casual "G'day" and acknowledged the fantastic work Irwin does as an ambassador for the initiative. He expressed his hope to meet with both of them soon and extended an invitation to this year's Earthshot Prize ceremony, which will take place in Brazil.
In the voicemail, William joked about Robert’s playful nature, cautioning Mills to be on alert for any unexpected surprises during their conversation. He warned that Irwin is known to bring out various exotic creatures, suggesting that a tarantula or some other unusual animal could make an unexpected appearance. In concluding his message, the royal wished them a successful show and expressed his desire to catch up with both Mills and Irwin soon.
The Earthshot Prize, established by Prince William in 2020, aims to recognize and promote innovative solutions to significant environmental challenges worldwide. With its focus on five ambitious "Earthshots" that are hoped to be achieved by 2030, the prize seeks to enhance life for all. The upcoming event is set for November in Rio de Janeiro, and the Prince noted that as 2025 approaches—the midpoint of the Earthshot decade—the initiative has already showcased the incredible potential of human creativity in tackling the planet's most urgent problems.

Who cares if he left a voicemail? Waste of airtime IMHO.

The Earthshot Prize is such a vital program. Glad to see it getting exposure. Go, William, go!

The joke is obvious. I wonder if the guests laugh, too.

All this promotion of the Earthshot Prize feels a bit self-serving from the Royal Family.
