On Sunday, the Israeli military announced it had conducted a series of air strikes targeting military sites within Iran, including locations in western Iran and the capital city of Tehran. The strikes were aimed at infrastructure deemed crucial to Iran's missile capabilities and intelligence-gathering operations.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement detailing the operation. Approximately 20 fighter jets were involved, utilizing over 30 munitions to strike multiple targets. The operation was based on intelligence and focused on the provinces of Kermanshah and Hamedan in western Iran.
The IDF reported that the targets included storage facilities, infrastructure used for missile launches, satellites, and military radar sites. Furthermore, a surface-to-air missile launcher near Tehran was also struck.
Iranian state television confirmed explosions east of Tehran, noting the presence of several military installations in the area, including the sensitive Parchin military complex.
In a separate incident in the central Isfahan province, an Israeli drone strike resulted in the deaths of three individuals in an ambulance, according to Iran's ISNA news agency. The governor of Najafabad county stated that the vehicle was transporting a patient when it was hit, resulting in the deaths of the driver, patient, and a companion.
Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel would continue its operations. He stated that Israel would maintain its efforts in both Iran and Gaza, and vowed not to be drawn into a prolonged conflict. Netanyahu further asserted that the operation would continue until its objectives were achieved.
