Israeli Airstrike in Yemen Sparks Protests and Retaliatory Missile Claims

Multiple news sources reported on Sunday that an Israeli airstrike on Saturday night targeted a house in Sanaa, allegedly where a secret meeting of senior Houthi leaders was underway. The house, situated in southern Sanaa, was reportedly cordoned off by Houthi security forces, with ambulances present at the scene.

Regional media reports indicated that the meeting was chaired by Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Political Council, and Abdulkarim al-Gumari, the Houthi military chief of staff. Other sources suggested the meeting was attended by top Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, and Abu Ali al-Hakim.

Reports from an Israeli media outlet stated that Israel attempted to assassinate Mohammed Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, the top military commander of Yemen's Houthi groups, in Sanaa. The outcome of the strike, including whether al-Ghamari was killed and who else was present, remained unclear. Residents near the targeted house reported seeing at least ten charred bodies.

The IDF reportedly conducted strikes in Yemen on Saturday night, targeting al-Ghamari. However, a member of the Ansar Allah Political Bureau stated that Israel was fabricating false victories. The Houthi information department dismissed the claims as fabricated, denying any attack or explosion.

Houthis announced they targeted central Israel's Jaffa with ballistic missiles in coordination with Iran, as the exchange of missile attacks between Israel and Iran continued.
