US Increases Military Support to Taiwan Amidst Rising Tensions

Recent reports highlight that the United States is transporting a new set of M1A2 tanks to Taiwan, while also planning to escalate its arms sales to the island in the coming years, with sales projected to surpass those during the initial Trump administration. It has also been rumored that approximately 500 US military personnel are currently stationed in Taiwan, a figure that greatly exceeds what the US Congress has previously disclosed.

Jiang Bin expressed strong discontent with these developments, asserting that they are clear indications of collaboration between the US and pro-"Taiwan independence" factions, which he views as a blatant infringement on China's core interests. He raised concerns regarding the provocation from the US side, accusing it of destabilizing cross-Strait relations and stirring unrest, and voiced China's staunch opposition to such actions.

He emphasized that the Taiwan issue is central to China's national interests and a critical red line in the context of China-US relations. Jiang called on the US to cease any form of military cooperation with Taiwan, warning that continuing down this path would ultimately lead to negative consequences. He also counseled the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Taiwan, suggesting that they cannot rely on foreign weaponry to secure their position and that seeking external support for independence efforts is destined to fail. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) will maintain and enhance its military preparedness to counteract any movements towards "Taiwan independence" and resist outside interference.
