A circus crocodile caused a stir in Xinxiang city, Henan Province, Central China, after escaping its enclosure. The escape was attributed to staff negligence.
The incident prompted a two-day search by local authorities. The crocodile was eventually located and captured.
The search began after villagers reported the escaped reptile to the local rescue team. The crocodile was found hiding in a pond within a nearby river channel. Due to the depth of the water and the onset of night, the capture was postponed until the following day.
The rescue team employed water pumping equipment to lower the water level in the pond. As the water receded, the crocodile became visible. After more than six hours of pumping, the crocodile was successfully captured on the evening of June 8. The captured crocodile was approximately 1.6 meters long.
A local government official confirmed that only one crocodile had escaped due to staff mismanagement. The crocodile has since been safely relocated. Patrols were also arranged near the river channel following the incident. No injuries were reported as a result of the escape.

This is why circuses shouldn't have wild animals. They can't keep them safe!
