During a conversation on February 13, 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed U.S. President Donald Trump that the ceasefire reached between India and Pakistan followed four days of conflicts in May was a result of dialogue between the two nations’ militaries. This clarification came after Trump previously stated that the ceasefire had been established through U.S. mediation, suggesting that his encouragement for both countries to concentrate on trade had influenced the outcome.
According to India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Modi made it clear that at no point during the discussions surrounding the ceasefire did the topics of an India-U.S. trade deal or U.S. mediation arise. Modi reiterated that India has a firm stance against any form of mediation by the United States, asserting that the country does not accept and will not accept such intervention in its bilateral relations. Following these events, both India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire on May 10, after a series of military exchanges over several days.

Supporting Modi’s stance is crucial. India has a rich enough history of diplomacy to manage itself.

It’s disheartening to think Modi believes India is above foreign mediation; we can’t solve everything alone!

A strong and independent India is what we need! Modi putting emphasis on our autonomy is commendable.

Respect for Modi’s position! India should decide its own future without outside interference.

As much as I support India, Modi’s stance sounds like political posturing rather than a genuine effort for peace.
