China Condemns Israeli Actions, Urges Peaceful Resolution of Iran Nuclear Issue

China expressed its condemnation of Israel's military actions against Iran during a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). A Chinese envoy stated the country's opposition to armed attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities.

The Chinese representative emphasized China's commitment to resolving the Iran nuclear issue through peaceful, political, and diplomatic channels. The envoy reiterated China's opposition to the use of force and unilateral sanctions. China pledged to maintain close communication with all parties involved and to work together to address the current situation within the IAEA Board of Governors.

China expressed serious concern about the negative impact of the current conditions on diplomatic negotiations. The envoy urged all relevant countries to refrain from actions that could escalate the situation and to support the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.

China affirmed its continued support for political and diplomatic efforts related to the Iran nuclear issue, acting in a responsible, objective, and fair manner. The country is committed to safeguarding the international nuclear non-proliferation mechanism and upholding peace and stability in the Middle East.

Numerous IAEA member states voiced serious concerns about the situation during the meeting. Many developing countries strongly condemned Israel's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Referencing IAEA resolutions, the parties highlighted that attacks or threats against peaceful nuclear facilities violate international principles, posing a significant threat to nuclear safety, security, and international peace. They stressed that political and diplomatic approaches are the appropriate means to resolve the Iran nuclear issue and called for continued international efforts.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi underscored the importance of protecting nuclear facilities from attack, regardless of the context. He emphasized the serious implications of such attacks for nuclear safety, security, safeguards, and regional and international peace.
