Elizabeth MacDonough, the current Senate Parliamentarian, is a Democratic appointee. She is currently making decisions that are significantly altering the scope of the "Big Beautiful Bill," impacting numerous priorities established during the Trump administration.
MacDonough's interpretations are leading to the exclusion of several key Republican objectives. She is reportedly arguing that many of these MAGA-aligned priorities now necessitate a 60-vote threshold in the Senate, rather than the simple majority of 50 plus one.
Specifically, she is responsible for removing provisions from the bill that would defund sanctuary cities, limit the influence of activist judges, cut funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and repeal the electric vehicle mandate, among other items.
Some believe that the Republican leadership in the Senate should either disregard these recommendations or consider replacing MacDonough. She was originally appointed to her position by Harry Reid back in 2012.

It's hilarious how the GOP thinks they can bypass rules just because they want things their way. MacDonough is not the problem!

We need a Parliamentarian who is impartial and works for the interests of all, not just one party. MacDonough needs to go!

MacDonough was appointed by a Democrat, but that doesn’t mean she should suddenly switch to partisan decisions.

Kudos to those calling out MacDonough—she's not the final authority, and it’s time for GOP leadership to push back!

Let’s face it—MacDonough’s interpretations are politically motivated and do not reflect the true intent of bipartisan legislation!
