U.S. Strikes Iranian Nuclear Facilities as President Trump Questions Military Engagement

In a significant escalation of military involvement in the Middle East, President Trump announced on Saturday evening via Truth Social that the United States has executed airstrikes against three nuclear facilities in Iran. "We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan," he stated, noting that all aircraft are now out of Iranian airspace and that a substantial payload was delivered to the primary target, Fordow.

These military actions followed a meeting where Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi engaged with European officials in Geneva and signaled a willingness to continue dialogue. Trump emphasized that the strikes focused on Iran's principal enrichment sites at Fordo and Natanz, which had recently been attacked by Israeli forces, as well as another location near Isfahan suspected of housing nearly weapons-grade uranium previously monitored by international inspectors.

In preparation for these operations, U.S. B-2 bombers were reported to be flying west over the Pacific Ocean, raising speculation about their involvement in the strikes. These bombers have the capability of carrying extremely powerful 'bunker-buster' bombs designed to breach fortified underground structures effectively. Despite his commitment to avoiding prolonged military engagements, Trump had previously indicated that a decision regarding action against Iran would be forthcoming in the weeks leading up to these strikes, which now mark a direct U.S. intervention in the conflict.
