The 2025 Hood to Coast relay in China is set to be the largest edition yet, with a historic 1,000 teams participating. The event will take place on June 27th, challenging runners across a 142.6km course through the rugged terrain of Zhangjiakou.
The race will feature a running course complemented by a 20-kilometer driving segment, divided into 16 relay points. Teams of five runners, each supported by a single vehicle, will represent over 10 different countries. Staggered starts will be implemented, based on each team's estimated pace.
Originally conceived in the United States over four decades ago, the team relay event made its debut in Zhangjiakou in 2017. Since then, it has become increasingly popular, celebrated for its combination of endurance, teamwork, and picturesque routes. Over 30,000 participants have competed in the Chinese version of the race since its inception.
The official anthem for this year's race, "Hood to Coast," performed by singer Tian Zhen, was revealed at a pre-race conference. The theme for the 2025 event is "No team, no Hood to Coast."
Looking ahead, the race is scheduled to expand its global presence, with a stop in Dubai planned for 2026.
